Medical Mission in TBTK

In its commitment for health program, the provincial government announces anew the surgical-medical mission set on July 20-24, 2009.
The humanitarian mission is part of the activities of the third global homecoming of Boholanos, the Tigum Bol-anon Tibook Kalibutan.
Sponsoring the medical mission are the Provincial Government of Bohol thru Gov. Erico B. Aumentado and Vice Gov. Julius Caesar F. Herrera; assisted by TBTK, headed by Betty Garcia
and Dr. Anita Cal Jackson; Philippine Gift of Life, headed by its chairman, Dr. Ramie Cadag, president/CEO Fancy S. Baluyot and vice president, Rev. Fr. Victor G. Bompat; Cong. Edgar M. Chatto; Cong. Roberto Cajes; Cong. Adam Relson L. Jala; City Government of Tagbilaran thru Mayor Dan Neri Lim; Vice Mayor Jose Antonio
Veloso; city SP health committee chair, Kag. Leonides L. Borja, Deputy Mayor Marlito Uy; Home Reach Foundation thru its chairman, Dr. Pepe Recitas, co- chairman, Dr. Ramie Cadag and Director Richard Uy; Department of Health thru DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III and Assistant Secretary, Dr. Elmer G. Punzalan and Holy Spirit Elementary Class 1977 thru Joseph S. Alagon and Confederation of Boholanos in USA and Canada (CONBUSAC) thru its president Carlos Cagaanan.
Baluyot, who is also the consultant for health and social services, bared that the surgical team is headed by Dr. Zaldy O. Buac, Dr. Michael L. Co Del Mar and Dr. Edgar D. Pizarras and their counterpart in USA headed by Dr. Anita Cal Jackson, Dr. Benny Buslon and Dr. Pepe Recitas, Dr. Luz Guerrero, Dr. Ida Tiongco.
Provincial Board Member Tomas Cesar T. Lopez, M.D., chairman of the provincial SP health committee said that cases to be attended to are goiter/thyroid, gall bladder, breast cancer, ovarian/myoma, anorectal and hernia and will be conducted at Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital.
According to Provincial Administrator Tomas D. Abapo, Jr., the medical-dental mission will be done at Bohol Cultural Center with a target of 4,000 beneficiaries.
The team is manned by the Association of Municipal Health Officers of the Philippines (AMHOP) headed by Dr. Jude Doblas; Bohol Medical Society headed by Dr. Teomaria Jesim, the Board of Anesthesiologist, TBTK volunteers; CONBUSAC volunteers headed by Cagaanan; Philippine Nurses Association thru Emma C. Auza and John Philipp Calulo, Philippine National Red Cross Bohol chapter thru its administrator, Nenita Briones; Provincial Health Office Dental Team headed by Dr. Felino Columnas; Chocolate Hills Lady Jaycees headed by Irish O. Pacaldo; Bohol Circle of Eastern USA thru its president Anita T. Borja; Circulo Boholano of Illinois thru Dr. Lilia T. Cumba.
Each town may refer 100 patients with patients from the City of Tagbilaran.
The medical team will be headed by Mr. Joseph S. Alagon, RN of the Holy Spirit Elementary Class 1977.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Reymoses A. Cabagnot advised that the cataract operation will be done at the Medical Mission Group of Hospital & Health Services Cooperative thru Medical Director Dr. Benjamin Galia and Dr. Federico Malubay of the Philippine Association of Medical Specialist (PAMS).
For cataract cases, patients are requested to report to the Governor's Mansion Office on July 19, 2009 for final evaluation as operation will start on July 20, 2009.
